Since 1977, I have examined assumptions and practices in family law in the light of logic and scientific data. In addition to my work on parenting plans and child custody, my current interests are developing materials and procedures to prevent parental alienation and to help severely alienated children reconnect with their parents and other relatives.
What I want to achieve:
I would like to stem the tide of misinformation, replace myth with science, and bring reason and evidence to bear on decisions involving children’s welfare.
My previous positions:
Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre at Dallas, USA.
Awards & accomplishments:
Author, Divorce Poison: How to Protect Your Family from Bad-mouthing and Brainwashing, widely regarded as the classic work on parental alienation.
Expert Consultant to the White House.
Author of the Consensus Report on Parenting Plans for Young Children, published by the American Psychological Association and endorsed by 110 researchers and practitioners.
Distinguished Alumni Award, UT Southwestern Medical Centre.
Dr. Warshak’s studies appear in 18 books and more than 80 articles on the psychology of alienated children and the impact on children of divorce, remarriage, and relocation.
