Employment is an established driver of health outcomes for all adults. My research focuses on the ways in which parents’ employment can determine their own mental health as they combine work and caregiving, and how this shapes children’s home environments, through parenting and parent-child interactions.
What I want to achieve:
Work has been severely neglected as an important social determinant of mental health for parents and children. The findings from our research highlight the opportunities for improving parents’ and children’s mental health through providing optimal work conditions, supported by public and workplace policies.
